The wildebeest bring new life to the Mara, not only through their cycle of regeneration of the grasslands, but for the predators that pursue the herds.

The Masai Mara has been called the Domain of Lions and these majestic and powerful hunters rule over these grasslands. Cheetahs are also a frequent sight in the Mara, as are Hyena and lesser predators such as Jackals.

The Mara is a wonderful natural speculate, one place where Masai warriors share the plains with hunting lions, an area of great herds and timeless cycles of life, death and rebirth.

Wildlife moves freely in and out of the reserve and through neighboring Masai lands. Outside the limits of the reserve, are many small camping sites and lodges, some of which offer walking, horse riding and other safari alternatives.

The Loita Hills and the Nguruman escarpment, both regarded as sacred to the Masai, offer high forest hiking opportunities for the fun holidaymaker.

How to get there:

Road access to Masai Mara is via Narok town, a 3 hours drive from Nairobi. You may wish to fly to the Mara, which is serviced by 4 man airstrips. Daily scheduled flights from Nairobi and Mombasa are on hand. Exclusive Charters also use these airstrips. Accessing the Mara area is really difficult without own transport.

Masai Mara Safari:

Most visitors visit Masai Mara on a safari package from Nairobi or in a rented car. The park has well established inner roads and tracks. Accessing areas outside the park is only easy using basic public transportation, and finding your way around can be challenging.
