A Wonderful African Safari Afloat A Hot Air Balloon With Excellent Scenes Of The Savanah Packed With Wild Animals.

An African safari is not finished without having a flight on a hot air-driven balloon.

In 1976, Alan Root and his spouse Joan- wildlife film producers, used a hot air balloon to shoot film clips of wildlife. It was more convenient, to use the balloon to discover places where a car was unable to reach, to film sensational aerials of wild animals.

From that point forward, the concept drew the curiosity of visitors who were prepared to pay top-dollar for this once a lifetime adventure. This gave rise to balloon safaris in Kenya Tanzania safaris.

Simply put, it's captivating! The air currents bear us out of track, above the brim of the Ngama hills and across in the direction of the Talek River. Directly below, a set of gray-back Jackals scamper haphazardly among the shrubs and a hare flits to its underground hideaway.

Afloat, we have a vantage eagle's eye sight of the expanse of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti reserves stretching to the extent where the eye can perceive. It seems endless.

We take 90 degrees angle and below we notice the heads of giraffes over the cover of acacia bushes as they nibble the leaves, scarcely acknowledging us drifting in the air above.

After one hour or so afloat, the flight comes to an end with a bouncy landing bringing us back to the ground. Next we crawl out of the carrier to a champagne breakfast. The beauty is that this breakfast happens in the wild, no matter where you land, and it's prepared as you watch with the burners that a short while before held you suspended in the air. What a way to commence our day!

"Over time, there has been improvements in hot air balloon systems. The burners are far better and less noisy than the previous balloon safaris" explains the captain.

"What amazes many first-time balloonists is the absolute tranquility, the peace as you cruise above the savanah, the woodland and the rivers of the Masai Mara. The noises below drift clearly upwards: a lion's bellow, elephants crashing through the shrubs, baboons perched on the tips of the trees and shrubs. If you're fortunate you will surge high above for the scene of a lifetime. " the captain offers.

After the end year rains, the vegetation is flourishing green as we drive back to our lodge watching wildlife en-route. It is contrasting as these are the same grasslands which, in November, were golden, dried out and hash.

Abruptly we encounter a mother cheetah marking her territory, spraying it with urine. Once done, she checks our group and then makes a soft chirping sound as she makes her way through the grass. Most probably she is searching for her cubs.

The grasslands are packed with elephants, buffaloes, topi, wildebeests and other antelopes and the scene is just awesome.
